Our Children's Home
St. Mary Magdalene Oasis of Peace Childrenโs Home and St. Raphael Convent were officially opened on 22nd January 2015 by His Grace Emeritus Archbishop Rt. Rev. Zaccheaus Okoth, accompanied by:
- Rev. Fr. George Grima, the sponsor
- Rev. Fr. Tom Nyamanga, then parish priest of Chiga Parish
- Rev. Fr. John MakโOpiyo, assistant parish priest
- Rev. Sr. Margaret Aringo, Superior General
- Rev. Sr. Margaret Lydia, Regional Superior of Eldoret Region, together with her counselors
- Sisters from different communities
Prior to the opening, the children had reported on 20th January 2015, after which a preparatory meeting was held with Rev. Fr. George Grima, Sr. Margaret Lydia Buore, Sr. Maurice Michael, and the children.
Rev. Sr. Margaret Lydia embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, supporting the home with passion and dedication. Through applications and networking, friends gradually came forward to assist the two sisters, offering support little by little. Their faith in Godโs providence never wavered, and indeed, God opened doors through the generosity and love of sponsors and friends.
A special partnership with St. Mary Magdalene in the United States, in collaboration with Brittanyโs Hope, has been instrumental in sustaining the mission. Together, they have provided strong support for the orphans and vulnerable children of St. Mary Magdalene Oasis of Peace, ensuring that love, care, and hope remain at the heart of the home.
Today, Oasis of Peace stands as a beacon of possibility, proving that with the right support, every child can overcome challenges and build a bright future. Our commitment remains unchanged: to empower children through education, care, and unwavering support.
