St. Mary Magdalene Oasis of Peace was founded with a simple but powerful vision: to create a safe haven where every child has access to quality education and nurturing care, regardless of their circumstances. What began as a small community initiative has grown into a comprehensive organization serving hundreds of children and families.

Our journey started on January 6, 2013, when Sr. Maurice Michael was sent to St. Mary Magdalene Oasis of Peace to breathe life into the orphanage project. A few months later, in May, Sr. Teresa Anne joined her so the two could share companionship and strength. Since the convent had not yet been established, they were unable to open the orphanage right away. What they found instead was that the school had already begun, with little ones in baby class and middle class filling the place with laughter.

As they waited for the children’s home to take shape, Sr. Maurice Michael noticed another need in the community—the elderly. She began a group for them, which turned out to be a beautiful coincidence, as this had been the original vision of Sr. Fidelis. The older persons embraced the idea wholeheartedly, and Sr. Maurice encouraged them to register the group so they could receive support. These elders became like grandparents to the orphans, offering love and wisdom, and they remain a cherished presence in the children’s lives.

Later, the thought arose to form a group of middle-aged men and women who could stand in as mothers and fathers for the orphans who had lost those figures. They became mentors, symbols of guidance and care, helping the children feel the warmth of family even in the absence of their own.

Today, Oasis of Peace stands as a beacon of possibility, proving that with the right support, every child can overcome challenges and build a bright future. Our commitment remains unchanged: to empower children through education, care, and unwavering support.
